How do I annotate a photo?

Field marks let you write or draw directly on a memory photo. Use them to circle a new bud, note pest damage, or mark a detail you want to watch.

01Open a memory photo

Open the memory from Walks or Plants, then open its photo options menu.

02Start writing on the photo

Choose Write on photo. If the memory already has marks, the option is Edit field marks instead.

03Draw what you want to remember

Use Apple Pencil or your finger to write, circle, or point to the part of the photo you want to remember. Apple Pencil works well for precise marks on iPad.

04Finish or clear the marks

Your marks save as you draw. Tap Done when you are finished. To remove every mark from the photo, tap Clear. Clearing marks leaves the photo itself unchanged.

05See your marks again

Field marks appear with that memory photo wherever you view it, including on another device. If you replace the photo, Sow removes the field marks from the previous image.
