We designed Garden Walks to feel like telling a trusted friend about your garden. Talk naturally. You do not need perfect grammar. Pauses, ums, and ahs are fine.
01Start a Garden Walk
Open Sow and, from Today, tap Start Garden Walk. Start talking when the recording screen appears.
02Talk about what you notice
Mention the weather and each plant worth noticing. Say the plant's name and what is new about it.
- What the weather has been like
- A plant's name
- What has changed since you last noticed it
- Anything you want to harvest, watch, or solve
03Try this example
Here is one way a Garden Walk might sound. It follows the mature summer stories in Sow's July sample garden.
Yesterday we had so much sun, and the garden is looking amazing because of it. My Burgundy Okra is growing strong. The richest pods are ready to pick, so I think I'll serve some for dinner tonight. The Cherokee Purple Tomato is heavy and ripe. My Thai Long Purple Eggplant has two glossy fruits ready to pick. The Sweet Chocolate Bell Pepper is turning its deep chocolate brown. The Butterfly Pea has deep blue flowers and a few young green pods. The Duchesse de Brabant Rose has a full, soft bloom this morning.
04Finish and let Sow organize it
When you are finished, tap the stop button. Sow saves the recording, then turns what you said into memories. Saving usually takes about 10 to 15 seconds. Keep Sow open and your phone awake until it is finished.
05Review the completed walk
When processing finishes, Sow opens the completed Garden Walk. Each plant you mentioned has its own memory, and the full walk keeps those memories together in the order you recorded them.
06Add photographs when you are ready
A new memory begins with an illustration when one is available. Open a memory, tap Add a photo, then take a new photo or choose one from your library. A photo replaces the illustration for that memory.
After you add photographs, open Plants to see the same memories as each plant's history over time.
